This minimalist industrial-styled restaurant on the fourth floor of St James Quarter punches diners in the taste buds with their South East Asian flavours. Offering views of the classic architecture of New Register House and the open and bustling kitchen diners, choose from a sharing style menu and a cocktail list that knows how to cater for the AF crowd. Expect the likes of padron peppers in salty soy and grilled aubergine with chili dip as starters. As for the larger plates, a green curry of hearty chunks of lamb shoulder, leeks and banana chilli, or whole grilled sea bream with herb salad and green nam jim are full of flavour. But nothing compares to the fried chicken and spicy caramel. We would visit Ka Pao for this dish alone. Crispy, crunchy, sweet and spicy. It’s killer.
