3 Reasons You’ll Love Eat With Ailsa’s Cooking Classes in Edinburgh

Eat With Ailsa offers hands-on cooking classes that bring bold global flavours and good vibes to Leith.

We recently swapped our Saturday night wine for wontons and tried the Sichuan Streetfood class. The class is fun, the food is tasty, and you leave feeling practically virtuous from having sharpened up your dinner party repertoire.

Here’s why we think you’ll love it too.

1Ailsa’s cooking classes are inspired by her love of global flavours. Each one focuses on the food of a different destination from Delhi Dinners and Izakaya  Evenings to the ever popular Korean Kitchen and the one we tried, the spicy Sichuan Streetfood. You’ll make authentic dishes step-by-step. We learnt how to fold dumplings, we spiced up our dan dan noodles, and we bashed a cucumber to make smashed cucumber salad.

2Don’t worry if you’ve never taken a cooking class before. Ailsa’s a natural teacher and the sessions are warm, friendly, and completely beginner-friendly. It’s a fun and social experience. You’ll cook in pairs, bring your own bottle (BYOB), and sit down to share the meal you’ve made. She also offers private bookings, team-building events, and hen party packages,so the classes are a brilliant option for special occasions.

3Eat With AIlsa classes are held at the Cyrenians Flavour and Haver Cook School in Leith, which is a space that supports people affected by homelessness and food insecurity. It’s not a glamourous venue but it does have heart and soul and is perfectly equipped to host the events. And, Ailsa also donates 10% of every ticket sold to support the charity’s work. So while you’re enjoying a night out, you’re also giving back.

If you’re keen to try something new, the autumn programme is now live. Priced at £65 per person, the classes are a great way to spend an evening. Some do book very fast though so it’s worth reserving your spot early.
